Hanshi Ridgely Abele - 1950-2009

It is with great sadness to share the news that a great leader in the martial arts has passed away. Hanshi Ridgely Abele died at his home with family around him December 10th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Hanshi Abele was a true icon in the Martial Arts world. His many accomplishments as a world champion, USA Team Coach, Chief Instructor of Shuri Ryu and others were many and great. He recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of his dojo in Columbia, SC. Most of all, he was a beautiful person, loving husband and father, and someone am very happy to have called my mentor.
